The Jackman Building is home to the University of Toronto\u2019s Faculty of Law and includes classrooms, offices, admissions and the Bora Laskin Law Library.\u00a0<\/p>

It was designed to LEED Silver energy standards<\/strong> and has won several awards, including a 2017 Ontario Builder Award (Eastern Construction) and Canadian Architect Magazine Award of Excellence for Design (HPA).\u00a0 The building prominently features local limestone both inside and out.<\/p>

Trillium partnered with B+H Architects<\/strong><\/a> during the design phase of the project, writing the hardware schedule and providing guidance for the opening package.\u00a0 Our wealth of experience on University of Toronto projects ensured everything met with the school\u2019s unique standards.<\/p>

During construction, we provided Total Opening Solutions<\/strong>\u00ae to Eastern Construction<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 This included supply and installation of the hardware, wood doors, hollow metal doors and automatic operators.\u00a0<\/p>

Hardware was finished in oil-rubbed oxidized bronze (C10B)<\/strong> for a rich look that ages beautifully.\u00a0 This complimented the walnut plastic laminate finish on our wood doors <\/strong>and transom panels.\u00a0 Over 50 automatic door operators were supplied for accessible openings and barrier-free washrooms.\u00a0 A high-security Medeco key system with construction cores was also provided.\u00a0 Permanent cores were installed by U of T.<\/p>

The project\u2019s initial design included a hard-wired card access system.\u00a0 Trillium worked with the client to completely redesign this system, shifting to Salto integrated locksets and Salto controllers<\/strong>.\u00a0 The savings from combining wired and wireless technology meant the access control system was expanded to include over 65% of the openings.<\/p>

After completing our contract with Eastern, Trillium Integration<\/strong><\/a> was contracted by the university to install access control components at the main entrance to the Bora Laskin Library and we continue to support the University on Salto applications.<\/p>
